Upgrades Coming To Napoleon FB Field

By Jessica Wald

The Napoleon School Board approved a few quotes to get the school’s football field upgrade started. Action was taken during the regular monthly meeting last Monday evening, April 13, 2026. All board members were present including President Taylor Grunefelder, Shawn Puklich, Tori Gross, Corey Schumacher and Derrick Leier, along with admins, Superintendent Rich Bjerklie, HS Principal Chad Berger and Elementary Principal Whitney Weigel.

Football field upgrades have been discussed for a while, but the board discussed the priorities to work on soon, while other projects will have to wait. Some of the updates on the list included crowning the field, new bleachers, hydro seed, new lights, poles, update crow’s nest and sprinklers/tie into a well for water; with priorities for the next football season being lights, dirt work for crowning, sprinklers and water.

The field will be crowned to raise the center of the field slightly so water doesn’t dwell in the middle.

In between discussion of football quotes, Leier questioned if the school could use some of the money for a track, as the track program has grown substantially in the last few years. Admin said a new track wouldn’t really be an option at this time, as it would be a minimum of $1 million, and a track would need to be six lanes to host track meets.
