Two New Businesses Sprout In Napoleon

Two businesses opened their doors this year in Napoleon.
Napoleon High School graduate, with the class of 2021, Carly Bitz, started her salon at the beginning of the year. Carly’s Off Broadway is located inside Sheila’s Beauty, Boutique & Tanning at 111 Ave B West.
Just up the road on north Broadway, located inside the Napoleon Oil shop building at 101 Broadway, Kyle Nieuwsma started his insurance firm, Legacy Insurance, in mid-June.

Bitz said while in high school she was undecided what she wanted to do after school. The former school counselor, Cindy Weigel, suggested cosmetology. “She knew I enjoyed doing hair for prom,” Bitz noted.
“I fell in love with it immediately,” Bitz said enthusiastically, as she studied cosmetology at the Salon Professional Academy in Fargo and graduated in 2022. She said graduating included getting a number of required hours, in a variety of settings and receiving her license after three tests. “A written test on chemicals and sanitation, a techniques test and the practical on a mannequin. The practical was four hours long and very stressful,” she explained.
