Teacher Staffing Looking Promising

Members of the Napoleon School Board heard some positive news from Superintendent Rich Bjerklie about filling open teacher staffing positions.
At their regular monthly board meeting last Mon., April 14 Bjerklie said he is working to hire a couple of Philippine teachers who are in the vetting process and are taking steps to come to the USA and be teachers. The two positions, that of math and English, are hoped to be filled in the fall. Bjerklie said he is also in the process of interviewing to fill the open history position as well and the district is still in search of a music instructor.
Board members Derrick Leier, Corey Schumacher, Tori Gross, Shawn Puklich and President Taylor Grunefelder accepted a letter of resignation from special ed instructor Autumn Horner, which is effective the end of the school year. In the letter Horner thanked the board for the opportunity to teach at NPS and said she would be willing to help out in the transition.
Supt. Bjerklie said the plan is to fill the special education position with current staff, which in turn will create an elementary position opening, which will need to be filled.
