State May Audit Napoleon School District

A brief update about a possible state audit was given to the Napoleon Public School Board at the regular monthly meeting last Monday, February 8, 2021. All board members were present including President Crystal Johnson, Jeff Schneider, Chuck Wald, Taylor Grunefelder and Dallas Bakken, along with Superintendent Rich Bjerklie and Elem. Principal Whitney Weigel, while HS Principal Nick Ator was absent.

Bjerklie noted the school was contacted by the State Auditor’s office about the 2018/2019 audit. “They were not happy with the results/how it came out,” and may do a more extensive audit on the school. Bjerklie said the state auditor has been trying to get in contact with the school’s auditor, Harold Rotunda, but they haven’t been successful. “If Harold can clear up some questions, they may not need to do an audit,” he said of the state auditor’s office. “We will know more when they get a hold of Harold.” He said they also mentioned doing audits on the 2019/20 year and possibly the 2020/21, but he would update the board accordingly when he finds out more information. 

In other business the board set the date of Tuesday, June 8, 2021, as the Napoleon Public School annual election date. The board said they believe two positions are up for election, currently held by. . .
