Lady Golfers Claim Region 1 Title

The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter girls’ golf team sailed to the Region I title in Ellendale last Mon., May 7. This marks the third straight season the Imperials have qualified for the state tournament. Last year, due to COVID there was no season.

The Imperials outdistanced second place Linton-HMB by 41 strokes. The Imperial 4-person team netted a 356, while second place L-HMB had a 397 and South Border finished in third with a 405. The top three teams in the region have qualified for the state tournament which will be held at the Jamestown Country Club June 1-2.

Other teams finishing in Region I were: 4) Sargent County 489, 5) Hankinson/Lidgerwood 492 and 6) Oakes 511.

Imperial head coach Caleb Ketterling saw 5 of his six 6 golfers on the day finish in the top 10. The top ten golfers on the day also qualify individually for the state tournament.

South Border’s, four-time defending state champion, Emily St. Aubin was the tournament. . .
