Imperials Suffer 1st Loss Of The Season At Home
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter lady Imperial basketball team was sporting a perfect 3-0 record as they entered the Fri., Dec. 19 contest against Sargent County. On this night it was the Bulldogs who handed the Imperials their first loss of the season by a score of 31-46.
The Imperials jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the taller Bulldogs went on a 16-point scoring rampage in the first quarter, to hold a 2-16 lead after the first 8 minutes of play in Napoleon. NGS head coach Paul Erbele saw freshman Hope Gross pick up two quick fouls and then was sidelined with less than two minutes gone in the first quarter.
The second stanza the Bulldog size continued to prove too much for the cold shooting Imperials as NGS scored 8 and held SC to only 9 quarter points, as the Imperials trailed 10-25 at the break.
After intermission the Imperials managed to get on track a bit with scoring, as they tallied 10 and gave up. . .
