Imperials Put Up Fight In First Round

The Boy’s District 2 Basketball Tournament tipped off in Jamestown on Fri., Feb 27. The #7 seed, Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter Imperials faced the #2 seed the Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels. The Imperials came out with high intensity and old-fashioned hustle for the first half of play and were within one, 26-27 at intermission, however in the second half shots weren’t falling as NGS lost 40-57.

NGS head coach Logan Klitzke and his squad opened the contest strong and played with the Rebels, as NGS held a 5-4 lead with just two minutes gone on a triple by NGS freshman Carson Piatz. The Rebels answered with five unanswered points to hold a 9-11 lead before the last tie in the first stanza was at 11 with 2:45 to play in the quarter. In this stanza junior Jackson Piatz netted half of his team high dozen points. The first frame closed with NGS trailing 13-15.

In the second quarter the Imperials managed to pull out in front 17-15 with just over a minute gone in the quarter. The Imperials managed to build upon that margin as they held a. . .
