Imperials Push #1 Carrington In Region Play

The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter girls volleyball team traveled to Carrington last Tuesday to face the Cardinals in opening round action of Region 3 volleyball.

The Imperials, who were seeded sixth in District 6, advanced to post season play as the number four seed from District 6 and faced the Cardinals, the number one seed from District 5, and according to the last rankings, the 9th ranked team in the state.

The Imperials were hoping to continue with their winning ways after coming out of District 6 with a win, but fell 3-1 on the night. The Imperials managed to push the Cardinals in the first set to overtime before losing 26-28 and they continued on to win the second set 25-20 before dropping the next two by the same scores of 18-25.

In the first set junior outside hitter Ashley Schmitt was feeling it as she recorded 7 early kills. The Imperials fell behind early, but managed to take their first lead at 13-12. Sophomore Sophie Ketterling took to the. . .
