Imperials Open With Win In Mandan
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 9-man football team opened their season with 42-6 win over Beach last Sat., Aug. 24. The game was played at the Starion Complex, Mandan as one of five games played on the day as part of the Region 4 Rumble.
First year head coach Jamison Fettig and his squad wasted little time in getting on the board. The very first play from scrimmage turned into a TD. Junior quarterback Bryce Schneider found his classmate Jackson Piatz on a 58-yard passing route. Schneider carried for the two-point conversion as the Imperials found themselves up 8-0 with just 18 second gone in the first period.
The first quarter scoring continued for NGS as senior running back Bill Schmitt weaved his way through the defense for a 12-yard scoring scamper. Schmitt carried for the 2-point conversion as NGS now led 16-0 about midway through the first. The scoring didn’t stop there for NGS as safety, Jackson Piatz picked off the first of three interceptions on the day, as a Buccaneer pass on the 35-yard line was snatched and returned to the house by Piatz. The Imperials attempted to go to the air for the 2-point conversion, but. . .
