Imperials Fall To Broncos In Gackle

As part of the Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter co-op agreement the Imperials boys’ basketball team played their required one boys’ basketball game of the year in Gackle against the Lisbon Broncos. The Saturday, Feb. 13 game had the Broncos coming out on top 39-54.

For the first three quarters the contest was close throughout, even though the Imperials only managed 6 first quarter points. Scoring in the first for NGS were Jaxcen Glatt who dropped in a triple along with a free toss and Trenton Erbele who had a deuce, as the Broncos netted 11. In the second frame Imperial head coach Bryan Schumacher and squad managed to hang with Lisbon, however at intermission NGS trailed 17-23. In the third stanza NGS scored a baker’s dozen, but gave up 15 and found themselves trailing by 8 heading into the final frame. With the game still in reach for the Imperials, the final frame scoring for NGS was once again a struggle as they were outscored 9-16, as Lisbon took the 39-54 win going away.
