After being behind after three quarters, the Napoleon Gackle-Streeter boys’ basketball team rallied in the final stanza to beat Medina-Pingree-Buchanan 53-45 for a fifth place finish in the Stutsman County Tournament.
Imperial head coach Bryan Schumacher and his squad offered a nice scoring balance as three players reached double figures with junior Kayden Sperle leading NGS with 16, including one triple. Sophomore post player Trenton Erbele had a double-double with a dozen points and a dozen rebounds. Junior Jaxcen Glatt netted 10 on the night. Other Imperials scoring were: Ethan Johnson 9 (1-3), while Payton Haas, Jordan Kuipers and Dylan Kuipers each added two.
The Imperials shined from the charity stripe as they netted 17-19 (90%) on 14 Thunder fouls. MPB was 4-6 (67%) on 13 NGS fouls. MPB’s Joshua Moser was the lone player to foul out of the contest.
