Girls Region I Champions
The Napoleon-Gackle/Streeter girls’ golf team captured the Region I title at Milnor on Tues., Sept. 12 by topping seven other teams. This is the third straight time the Imperials are Region I champs.
Imperial head coach Caleb Ketterling said, “I couldn’t be prouder.” Ketterling’s squad of Sophie Ketterling, Emma Ketterling, Jada Schwartzenberger and Aliyah Schwartzenberger had a 4—person score of 346 to outdistance second place finishers, Linton-HMB by 54 strokes and who had a 400 team score and third place finishers Sargent County who carded a 414. The top three teams have earned the right to advance to the state tournament at Souris Valley in Minot on Sept. 26 and 27. Last fall the girls’ came away with a second place team finish at state.
In addition to the first-place team finish at Region I, the Imperials had all four girls place in the top ten, which earned all four All-Region I honors and the top ten also qualify for the state tournament.
