Boys Win At Home
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter boys basketball team picked up a win at home as the second part of a double-header against Enderlin last Fri., Jan. 3. The Imperials jumped out to a first quarter 14-0 lead and never looked back as they won 67-40.
NGS head coach Logan Klitzke had a balanced scoring attack as 8 players reached the scoring line. Three players reached double figures as senior Tristan Schaffner had 28 to lead the Imperials, including a pair of triples in the third quarter; Brenden Zenker had 13 and junior Bill Schmidt had 11.
The Imperials put together a nice defensive game against the Eagles as they drew three first half offensive fouls and led 18-4 after the first eight minutes. Imperial Brenden Zenker, a sophomore, sparked the first quarter offense for the Imperials as he netted 7, of his game’s 13 points in the first stanza, including a trey.
The second quarter the Eagles put together an early quarter run and pulled to within 11, 24-13 with 3:37 to play in the half. The remainder of the quarter played out with the exchange of baskets, as both teams scored a baker’s dozen in this quarter, and NGS held a 31-17 lead at intermission.
