Ace Serves Help Lift NGS Into District Play

The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter Imperial girls’ volleyball team served up 16 ace serves in their District 2 play in match against Strasburg-Zeeland.

In action in Napoleon last Tues., Oct. 28 NGS head coach Kali Fettig saw five of her players hand out an ace serve as three players, Aliyah Schwartzenberger, Brooklyn Schneider and Isabella Kristiansen all had 4 ace serves each and Alexa Haas added a trio of aces and Ximena Salazar also had one in the 3-set sweep by the Imperials. NGS won by scores of 25-8, 25-15 and 25-9.

This match would determine which team would be the 8th seed in the District Tournament and for the loser, their season comes to close.

With the win the Imperials entered the District 2 tourney as the 8th seed and faced Linton HMB, the #1 seed in opening round action.

In the play in contest the Imperials jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first set with freshman setter Brooklyn Schneider at the service line. Sophomore middle hitter Isabella Kristiansen took to the line a bit later as the Imperials held a 15-3. . .
