School Audit Completed
By Jessica Wald
A brief update was given on the state audit which was recently completed on the Napoleon Public School financial books during the regular board meeting last Monday, April 12, 2021.
All board members were present including President Crystal Johnson, Chuck Wald, Dallas Bakken, Taylor Grunefelder and Jeff Schneider, along with Superintendent Rich Bjerklie and Elementary Principal Whitney Weigel.
Bjerklie said someone from the state auditor’s office conducted an audit from the 2017/18, along with the 2018/19 school years recently. He said the auditor recommended to keep all things/paperwork such as statements and receipts and also said a fraud risk assessment should be conducted every two years, due to the previous financial mishaps.
Bjerklie also noted the 2019/20 and 2020/21 school year audits are scheduled to be conducted in the fall. He said the cost for the audits are around $10,000, but while the state is doing the auditing, they won’t use the contracted auditor Harold Rotunda.
Business Manager Brandi Wald reported statements of intent to run for the upcoming school board election were filed by. . .
