By Jessica Wald

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, along with ND Superintendent Levi Bachmeier, recently announced this year’s County Teachers of the Year. Napoleon High School’s agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor, Mr. Brian Schneider was granted the award among teachers from Logan County.

Schneider, who has taught ag ed for 40 years, 35 in Napoleon, said he loves what he does and the Napoleon Public School has become a second home. “It’s where I feel energized and driven. It’s my Ikigai, a Japanese word which loosely translates to ‘the reason you get up every morning and is believed that every person has an Ikigai’.

When you find your Ikigai it is what you devote your life too, and teaching agricultural education is my calling, my true purpose. I also believe that even after 40 years I still make a difference every day,” he said.

NHS Principal Chad Berger nominated Schneider for the county teacher of the year award.

“I nominated Brian Schneider for the Logan County and North Dakota Teacher of the Year because of his dedication to our students, our school, our community, and the FFA program. Brian builds. . .
