New Teachers Join County Schools

The local schools have been in session for almost two weeks. Both schools boast an increase in enrollments, with Napoleon up 12 with 250 students and Gackle-Streeter up eight with 99 students. Both schools also added a couple new teachers to the mix.

Napoleon hired Abby Becker, 5th grade teacher; John Petines for high school math; and Marvy Bondad for English, while Sue Wald, who was retired, has returned for the Title I math position.

G-SPS also has two new teachers this year; Liezl Ferreira, business teacher; and Patrick Donegan for their vo ag teacher. NPS continues to look for a K-12 music teacher.

NPS 5th grade teacher Abigail (Bitz) Becker is a 2018 NHS graduate, then went on to NDSU and VCSU to obtain two bachelor’s degrees in human development and family science along with elementary education. Becker also attended WGU to earn her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. “I love working with kids and watching them grow,” she noted of her career path.
