Napoleon’s New USPS Postmaster

Napoleon has gone several months without a USPS postmaster, but at the beginning of May, Katie Nystrom was hired. Nystrom takes over the postmaster position after Cheryl Weigel retired at the end of 2024, after a 42-year career with the USPS.
Nystrom lives in Gackle with her partner and they have three children, two boys and one girl (8, 3, & 15 months). She is originally from the Chicagoland area and moved to North Dakota in her early 20s after falling in love with the state during a waterfowl hunting trip. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Lake County in Illinois.
Katie has been with USPS for about 13 years, serving in more than 42 offices across the state. “I started as a clerk in Edgeley, later transferred to Jamestown, and then served as the Postmaster in Gackle for six years. My experience spans both retail and delivery operations, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with many incredible communities along the way,” she noted.
Nystrom said when the Napoleon postmaster position opened, she and her family felt it was. . .
