Logan County Finalizes Preservation And Heritage Grants
Logan County applied for and received two grants through the State Historical Society of North Dakota to support exterior restoration of the Logan County Courthouse through upgrading of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. The North Dakota Historic Preservation Fund, a federally funded program awarded $25,000, while the state-funded Cultural Heritage Grant provided $30,000. The grants served as matching funding dollar-for dollar totaling $50,000. The remaining $5,000 from the state grant requires a local dollar-for-dollar match.
The goal of the grant was to restore the courthouse façade to its original historical appearance through upgraded HVAC equipment. The project focused on the west side of the courthouse facing Broadway, and the east side, which both had white line hide, exterior HVAC units, and interior units placed in spaces that were originally taller windows.
