Logan County JDA coordinator Eric Hoberg spearheaded the meeting and opened the open forum meeting with, “I’m looking for ideas. What are some of the needs of the community and where should we be spending our time in trying to accomplish those ideas.”
The main thrust for the gathering was to discuss the possibility of applying for a state of ND Catalyst Program grant of which there is $500,000 available.
Hoberg noted that Napoleon has done well as the retail sector of Main Ave is nearly filled with the exception of the former Downtowner building, which has been sitting vacant for nearly a year.
The question was thrown out, are there service sector jobs and businesses such as eye care or dental care or heating/cooling or plumbing firms or individuals which we should be pursuing? It seemed as all in attendance felt these would be nice additions to the community. Hoberg noted that there is a company/business interested in locating in Napoleon that would employee 20-25 people. Hoberg said talks are preliminary and that he could not release any more information.
The main topic of the 90-minute meeting was spent discussing. . . .
