County Holds Budget Meeting

A special budget meeting was held by the Logan County Commissioners to go over and review budgets which were presented by department heads.
Commissioners Blanche Schumacher, Bryan Batsch and commission chair John Wald heard from department heads as well as looked at submitted budget requests on Wed., August 20 for five hours.
After hearing from most department heads, commissioners went on record to offer a 2.5% salary increase to county courthouse employees, including full-time county highway employees. For the sheriff’s department employees, they agreed to put into the budget a 5% salary increase, along with a 5% increase for NDSU Extension Administrative Assistant Rebeca Hulme, while commissioners will not take an increase for their positions and temporary employees will also remain the same.
Sheriff Andrew Bartholomaus presented his budget and requests to commissioners. He requested a 10% raise across his department, He noted his deputies, Mike Marolt has 11 years and Kyle Friez has four years with the department. “I think we need to pay our deputies for . . .
