By Jessica Wald
A bid opening for a Schell Butte Township project was held during the regular Logan County Commissioner meeting last Monday, November 14, with all commissioners present.
Kadrmas Lee & Jackson Engineer, Jennie Krause, was on hand to conduct the bid opening. She told Chairwoman Blanche Schumacher, along with commissioners John Wald and Charlie Johs there were five bids received. With the highest bid at $891,383.00, the commissioners approved the lowest bid from Midwest at $525,416.00, contingent on all the specs the engineering firm will check. It was also noted the engineer’s estimate was $473,203.50 for the grading and structure replacements in Schell Butte Twp.
County Recorder/Clerk of Court Deputy Laura Henry attended the meeting to request the approval to submit an application for a court facilities grant like in previous years. She said some requests in the grant include carpet tiles for the court room, additional computer ports, replace accordion style doors and a new computer. After discussion commissioners approved the submission of an application.
County Sheriff Andrew Bartholomaus reported the full-scale active shooter drill in Gackle at the G/S School went well, except the timing it would take for law enforcement to get from Napoleon to Gackle. He said he’d possibly like to look into hiring a rescue officer, which could be cost shared between the city of Gackle, the G/S School and Logan County. He said a possible position would earn about $40,000, but he’d like to apply for a grant to help with costs. Commissioners said they will. . .
