Council Approves Sales Tax Distribution

By Jessica Wald

Several topics were up for discussion during the regular Napoleon City Council meeting last Monday evening, June 2.

Councilmen present included Mayor Todd Moos, John Wald, Clark Haas, Bob Humann and Rod Kleppe, while absent was Mike Heying.

The council received a One Cent City Sales Tax recommendation. The request was from pedestrian trail coordinator Bob Humann for $30,000, which would be taken from the city sales tax capital improvement fund. Humann said after the funds from the sales tax, the trail now only has bills in the amount of $10,000 remaining. The council approved the $30,000 request.

Humann also said instead of purchasing garbage cans from a different entity, he suggests purchasing a few from the city, as there are still bins available for sale. Moos suggested the city donate three trash bins for the new trail. The council agreed and approved the donation of three bins at $95 each. Humann also said Lee’s Lakeside Campground (Lee Piatz) is donating the pet stations for along the path.

Moos said they’ve been made aware of a resident in town having domestic fowl in their yard. The council said there is. . .
