Imperials Pass Their Way To Region Win
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 9-man football team took to the air on the road in Steele as they picked up their third win of the year over Region 5 foe Kidder County, 36-6.
The Imperial wasted little time on Fri., Sept. 3 before scoring as the third play from scrimmage had senior quarterback Tucker Schneider find senior receiver Patrick Pechtel on a 49-yard passing route. Junior Trenton Erbele carried for the 2-point conversion to give NGS an early 8-0 lead with just 42 seconds gone in the first quarter.
After forcing KC to punt on their next possession the Imperials marched from their own 31-yard line to just shy of the goal line where the Wolves defense denied the Imperial threat, just inches from the goal line.
The Wolves had 99-yards ahead of them and a 12-play drive had Jacob Biegler cap the drive on a 42-yard run to put the Wolves on the board at the 2:50 mark of the first stanza. The Imperial defense denied the attempted PAT and this was the only score of the night for KC as NGS held an 8-6 lead.
After an exchange of punts, NGS Schneider and company set up shop on their own 35-yard line. As KC was stifling the Imperial running game Schneider found senior wide receiver Jaxcen Glatt on a 45-yard passing route, moving the ball to the 19-yard line. Once again NGS went to the air for his second passing TD of the night. This time Schneider found Glatt in the end zone for a 19-yard pass as Glatt leaped into the air to pull down the pass with one hand for the touch 6. The Imperials were denied the 2-point conversion, but held a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter of play.
The second quarter had NGS score twice. Schneider went to the air and found receiver. . .
