Imperials Come Up Short In OT

February 4, 2026

The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter girls’ basketball team traveled to Medina last Tues., Jan. 27 for a District 2 matchup. In a close game throughout, it took overtime to decide a winner, as the Thunder came out on top 55-52.

NGS head coach Paul Erbele had three starters reach double figures, as eighth grader Deziray Zenker and a pair of freshman, Hope Gross and Brooklyn Schneider all had 13-points each.

In the first quarter of play the Imperials came out with a full-court press as both teams exchanged baskets and leads. The first stanza ended with the Medina-Pingree-Buchanan Thunder on top 10-12.

The second frame was much like the first, as contest was knotted at 18 with 3:00 minutes to play. The first half closed with the Thunder on a mini-run, outscoring NGS 7-2 to hold a 5-point, 20-25 lead.

The third quarter brought foul trouble for NGS as freshman post player Dawson Erbele picked up her fourth personal, just over 3 minutes into the third and she was s. . .
